The CFS Financial Center Index forms one of three parts constituting the larger project “Financial Center Monitoring”,which was initiated by the Hessian Ministry of Economics, Transport, Urban and Regional Development in the beginning of 2006. Partners in this project are the Landesbank Hessen-Thüringen (Helaba), the HA Hessen Agentur GmbH, the Frankfurt School of Finance & Management (FSFM), and the Center for Financial Studies.

Die Another part of the larger project "Financial Center Monitoring" is the survey "Financial Center Frankfurt – A financial center on the move" conducted by Helaba in cooperation with HA HessenAgentur. The survey analyses and compares the financial centers Frankfurt, London and Paris. It is distinguished from former publications by its broad based detail analysis.

The last part of the larger project “Financial Center Monitoring” is a data based system of historic financial center indicators which will be collected, edited and published as data series by the FSFM.

The whole project “Financial Center Monitoring” focuses on a comprehensive and integrative approach across institutions involving vital communication and interaction among all partners. The different projects are linked by an agreed terminology regarding the definition of a financial center (see conception). By this synergies, the whole project is more than just the sum of its parts.
